Mediation in San Diego California
What is Mediation or Dispute Resolution?
Mediation – Dispute resolution refers to several out-of-court legal processes that can be used to resolve disputes. Another term for this process used in the legal system, is Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR). Mediation is the most common form of dispute resolution and is particularly common in family law.
Mediation is when a neutral third party (known as a mediator) works with the parties to find points of agreement and draft settlement specifically meeting the needs of the parties. Mediation gives the parties choices. Also, instead of each party paying a lawyer, the two parties can split the cost of one mediator. This can often make the process much less expensive.
